Dr. Katie Skinner

Dr. Katie Skinner grew up in Pittsford, New York, but spent a lot of time visiting the Upper Valley during her childhood. Though many of her family members practice human medicine, Dr. Skinner never considered being a "people doctor".  She has always loved animals and science and found veterinary medicine to be the perfect combination of the two! Prior to veterinary school she worked as a kennel assistant in high school and college, milked cows for a summer, and performed research on Listeria monocytogenes in the Food Safety Laboratory at Cornell University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Cornell University in 2001, and in 2005 earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Skinner joined Stoney Brook Veterinary Hospital in August 2019 though she has worked in the Upper Valley for the entirety of her professional career. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association. Her veterinary interests include owner education and palliative and hospice care, and she holds a category II USDA accreditation. Dr. Skinner loves solving a complicated mystery to help a pet feel better and she gets a lot of satisfaction out of the relationships she gets to form with the people who come along with her patients.  She is excited for this new chapter, sharing some ownership interest in the practice with Dr. Maurer and carrying on the Stoney Brook tradition of providing top-notch veterinary care to pets and their families.

When Dr. Skinner isn’t at work she enjoys spending time with her husband Colin, their three daughters, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. In any the leftover spare time, she enjoys running, hiking, gardening, cooking (and eating!), alpine skiing, and exploring new places with her favorite people.
