Dr. Rebecca Maurer

A native of New Orleans, LA, Dr. Maurer attended University of New Orleans and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1995. Dr. Maurer originally pursued a research career at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Microbiology and Immunology. There she obtained a master's degree in microbiology by completing research on Feline Bartonellosis. Following graduate school, Dr. Maurer went on to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.

Dr. Maurer moved to Massachusetts where she worked as an associate veterinarian for six years. During that time, she acquired training in ultrasound, as well as orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. In 2008, Dr. Maurer took on more management roles and traveled to various hospitals in the New York area to assist in the medical and surgical training of other veterinarians. Dr. Maurer also dedicated time to general practice by working at a few hospitals in the Ithaca, NY area.

Here in the Upper Valley area, Dr. Maurer has turned her focus to feline and internal medicine interests. In that vein, she has earned the achievement of Cat-Friendly Veterinarian. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association. Now, at Stoney Brook Veterinary Hospital Dr. Maurer strives to enhance the health of feline and canine animals, to help build a strong bond between pets and their owners, and to help pet owners manage the complexities of having a geriatric pet. Dr. Maurer believes that Stoney Brook Veterinary Hospital has just the right team of dedicated staff needed to help her reach those goals.

When not caring for other pets, Dr. Maurer tends to her own family. She has a son, Aiden, and three cats, Hela, Goose, and Loki (yes, she is a Marvels fan). While Dr. Maurer spends much of her time with her animals and her family, she also has several varied interests, which include running, movies and cooking, and eating really spicy, hot food.
